As a parent, you are doing one of the most important jobs in the world. Having worked with many families though, we know that many of you are alone, or at least often feel isolated, and are under many pressures that make it harder to give your children the love, attention and resources you want for them. Our services are designed to help relieve you of some of that pressure, to know that you’re not alone and there are people out there who care about you and your children. When you have someone to turn to, who is there to listen to you and encourage you, something is lifted. It might be a worry or an emotion that’s suddenly eased, or a problem solved or an idea gained. Whatever it is, we see in the families who come to us (and have experienced in our own parenting) the benefits of sharing this parenting load together.
Now we are asking for your help! In June we were awarded funding by Comic Relief to expand our services from Ledbury to Hereford and Ross-on-Wye as well. We are using this funding to ask parents to get involved with developing our services. In September we will be announcing some special family focus days, with developmentally stimulating and encouraging activities for your little ones. Once the children are engaged in play, we are inviting you to tell us what you most need. Do you need encouragement, advice, or information? Do you prefer playgroups or courses, and what might make it easier to attend? If we can offer one-to-one support, what would you use it for? We will be asking these and other questions and asking for your feedback and requests, so we can tailor our services to your needs and challenges.
